Ethics & Confidentiality

Counselling is entirely confidential, this is an essential part of what makes the process work.

Like all reputable therapists, and as required by the accrediting institutions, I undertake regular supervision and our work together may be discussed in an anonymous format. This means I regularly review my work with a colleague, so I can be sure my attempts to help you are well thought out. No recognizable client details are ever disclosed. I am happy to discuss my supervision arrangements with you.

Details will not be passed on to others unless requested by you, required by your insurer, or by law.

It would be professionally irresponsible not to disclose details, if a client were to give me information that led me to believe someone was at risk of serious harm, themselves, or another person.

In line with the principles of General Data Protection Regulations, any records will be kept securely, confidentially, only as necessary, and stored no longer than needed for our work. Records will usually be deleted within 7 days of completion of the work.
